Long-haired cat with markings (Colourpoint), in the United States is known as a Himalayan cat , breed created by man while during experiments in breeding, trying to solve the problem of genetic diseases in cats. Swedish geneticist, Dr. Tjebbes, in the twenties of the 20th century, crossed Siamese, Persian and Birman cats.
Then, in the thirties, two researchers at Harvard Medical School, concluded that it was necessary to continue crossing – this time with a known pedigree cats – to achieve the inheritance of certain characteristics. They mated a Siamese cat with smoky, silver tabby and a black long-bristle Persian cat, but this time in a deliberate attempt to obtain a sample with a Siamese cat Persian hair and body type.
